Michael J. Perrotti, PhD. Inc is a multi-specialty practice. Dr. Perrotti has three sub-specialties, viz, clinical psychology, neuropsychology,and forensic psychology.
In clinical psychology, Dr. Perrotti is involved in the assessment and treatment of individuals, couples, families and veterans.
As a neuropsychologist, Dr. Perrotti conducts neuropsychological assessments of Traumatic Brain Injury, concussive events, neurodegenerative disorders, effects of electrocution, neurotoxins and neuroblast trauma. He has worked on assessment of traumatic brain injury cases with USC Neuroradiology. He has conducted complex neuropsychological assessments for USC.
Dr. Perrotti has also had education and training in brain imaging.
In forensic psychology, Dr. Perrotti serves as an expert witness for plaintiff and defense in civil matters as well as prosecution and defense in criminal matters. He has conducted many assessments evaluating accusations of sexual deviance, false confessions, eyewitness ID, as well as the effects of trauma and brain injury. He also has served as an expert witness in arbitration. He has conducted expert medical reviews on standard of care for the California Attorney General. He has served as an expert for the Government for the US Office of Hearings and Appeals, Social Security Administration. He also has performed assessments for short and long range disability and utilization review.
Dr. Perrotti is an expert child custody evaluator and conducts assessment of child sexual abuse allegations. He wrote a chapter on The Methodology of Conducting Bonding Studies in Child Custody Evaluations published in the Handbook of Child Custody. The study of attachment is crucial to determinations related to parenting, personality disorders, assessment of abuse accusations and alienating behaviors. Dr. Perrotti has conducted peer reviewed lectures to Psychologists on the Methodology and Objective Scoring of Behaviors (non-verbal and verbal) in bonding studies.
Dr. Perrotti is an Expert Reviewer and Consultant for the California Board of Psychology (BOP) and conducts Peer Reviews for the BOP and the Medical Board of California.
