Overview Of Practice

Michael J. Perrotti, Ph.D., Inc. is a forensic psychology practice offering expertise and 26 years of experience to consumers and to courts' counsel including civil, prosecution and defense counsel:

The goal of every evaluation is to accurately and comprehensively address the referral questions of the client and attorney-client. An applied research model is used in which findings of evaluations are based on contemporary research and sophisticated psychological procedures, methods and tests. A timely completion turnaround of services with due diligence to trial dates is offered.

Dr. Perrotti provides professional, visual presentations (for example, Power Point or exhibits) of evaluation findings to juries on counsel's behalf. The goal is to reduce psychological jargon to plain English that is easily comprehended by the lay person.

Dr. Perrotti's reports are frequently used as settlement tools in disputed issues. Dr. Perrotti also has been instrumental in obtaining new trials in criminal matters. As a neuropsychologist, Dr. Perrotti evaluates the relationship of head injuries to criminal intent and provides expert testimony on interactive effects of medications, psychotropic drugs & alcohol.

Dr. Perrotti is an assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Dr. Perrotti also contributes to the profession as an expert witness for the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs, Enforcement Division, Board of Behavioral Science Examiners and is a government expert on disability for the Social Security Administration, Office of Hearings & Appeals.

Dr. Perrotti possesses specialized training and expertise in the area of assessment of sexual deviation and evaluation of child sexual abuse allegations. His training and experience and use of the Abel Assessment of Sexual Interest Computerized Test from the Abel Center in Atlanta, Georgia, enables him to add a state-of-the-art sophisticated tool for the evaluation of sexual offending. Dr. Perrotti also works in conjunction with a colleague who consults with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and does research on various types of sex offenders.

Because of Dr. Perrotti's extensive training and experience in psychological testing and in specialized areas, such as evaluation of sexual deviance and evaluation of allegations of sexual molestation, Dr. Perrotti is accustomed to providing a second-opinion psychological evaluation in Superior Court Family Law Division.

Dr. Perrotti routinely consults on cases before the federal district and county courthouses in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego. He has consulted for legal counsel, courts and public agencies throughout the State of California, including recent assignments in Kern, Contra Costa, Ventura, Sacramento and Yolo counties.
